How do sound travel through air?

Question: How do sound travel through air?

The source of a sound vibrates bumping into nearby air molecules which in turn bump into their neighbours and so forth. The air is made up of many tiny particles. When sound is created the air particles vibrate and collide with each other causing the vibrations to pass between air particles. The closer those molecules are to each other the faster the sound travels.
