Question: Explain dehydrohalogenation reaction?
Dehydrohalogenation is a reaction in which a dihalide (a molecule with two hydrogen atoms bonded to two halide atoms) is reduced to an alkene or an alkyne in the presence of a base. It involves the removal of hydrogen and halogen atoms from opposite sides of a carbon-carbon attached dihalide, leading to the formation of single, double, or (rarely) triple bonds between the two carbon atoms.
