Question: Who built and flew the first airplane?
The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright, are credited with inventing, building, and flying the first successful airplane on December 17, 1903. The Wright brothers built the airplane based off of their own design and flew it a total of four flights that day with the fourth flight lasting 59 seconds and travelling a distance of 852 feet. This flight, which Orville Wright flew, marked the first flight of a heavier-than-air, motor-operated aircraft, and made them the first aviators in history.
