Question: Why was the bill of rights added to the constitution?
The Bill of Rights was added to the U.S. Constitution in 1791 as the first ten amendments. It was added in order to protect the fundamental rights of American citizens and to address the objections of the Anti-Federalists, who were opposed to the ratification of the Constitution without a bill of rights. These rights included freedom of speech and press, the right to bear arms, right to a speedy trial and protection against self-incrimination, among others.
