After fertilization, the zygote travels down the fallopian tube towards the uterus. Once it reaches the uterus, it begins to divide rapidly and form a ball of cells known as a blastocyst. The blastocyst then implants itself into the lining of the uterus, a process called implantation.

Once implanted, the blastocyst begins to release a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). This hormone signals to the body that pregnancy has occurred and helps to maintain the pregnancy by supporting the production of estrogen and progesterone.

The lining of the uterus, or endometrium, also undergoes changes to support the developing embryo. The endometrium becomes thicker and more vascular, providing a rich environment for the embryo to grow and develop.

Over time, the embryo continues to develop and eventually forms a fetus. The uterus continues to support the growing fetus throughout the pregnancy, providing it with oxygen, nutrients, and waste removal until it is ready to be born.
