Question: Describe the process of protein synthesis in detail?
Protein synthesis is the amazing process by which cells create new proteins from amino acids. Proteins are essential for life, as they perform many functions in the body, such as catalyzing reactions, transporting molecules, and fighting infections. Protein synthesis has two main steps: transcription and translation. In transcription, the DNA code is copied into a messenger RNA (mRNA) molecule, which carries the instructions for making a protein. In translation, the mRNA is read by a ribosome, which uses transfer RNA (tRNA) molecules to bring the correct amino acids to the growing protein chain. The ribosome moves along the mRNA until it reaches a stop codon, which signals the end of the protein synthesis. The newly formed protein then folds into its specific shape and starts doing its job in the cell.
