Question: In your own words, identify three (3) factors of holistic development for children in grade R and explain their definitions in a simple manner for parents to understand their importance.
Holistic development means that children grow and learn in different areas at the same time. These areas are physical, emotional, social and cognitive. Physical development is about how children use their bodies and senses. It includes things like running, jumping, drawing and playing with toys. Emotional development is about how children feel and express their feelings. It includes things like being happy, sad, angry or scared. Social development is about how children interact with others and make friends. It includes things like sharing, taking turns, cooperating and communicating. Cognitive development is about how children think and learn new things. It includes things like remembering, problem-solving, counting and reading. All these areas are important for children in grade R because they help them to be ready for school and life.
