Give the proper procedures/steps in applying cpr?
Question: Give the proper procedures/steps in applying cpr?
To apply CPR, follow these steps:
- Check for a response. Shake the person's shoulders and ask loudly if they are okay. If there is no response, call 999 or ask someone else to do it. If there is a defibrillator nearby, ask someone to get it.
-Open the airway.Tilt the person's head back and lift their chin. Look, listen and feel for signs of breathing for no more than 10 seconds. If they are not breathing or only gasping, start CPR.
- Give chest compressions. Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person's chest. Place the other hand on top and interlock your fingers. Keep your arms straight and your shoulders over your hands. Press down hard and fast, about 5-6 cm deep and at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. Let the chest rise fully between each compression.
- Give rescue breaths. If you are trained and willing to do so, you can give rescue breaths after every 30 compressions. Pinch the person's nose shut and seal your mouth over theirs. Blow into their mouth for one second and watch for their chest to rise. Give two rescue breaths and then resume chest compressions.
- Continue CPR until help arrives. Do not stop CPR unless the person shows signs of life, such as breathing, coughing or moving; a trained professional tells you to stop; you are too exhausted to continue; or the scene becomes unsafe.
